Historique :	Ce groupe aurait été donné au 17e siècle par Béatrix de Roussillon à l'église de Châteauneuf. Après 1848 le groupe sculpté disparaît et elle fut redécouverte au musée archéologique de Lyon. Le 22 juillet 1941 cet objet réintégre l'église de Châteauneuf. L'abbé Granjean, curé de Rive-de-Gier et désservant de l'église de Châteauneuf l'emportât dans sa cure pour la mettre en sécurité. Elle revint à Chateauneuf suite à une nouvelle restauration courant des années 1980.
